Usually the embassy of a country symbolizes its flag, it's a closed and guarded place, it’s difficult to reach, and it's not involved in the urban life and in its dynamics. |

  Thinking about the embassy of the European Community, for whom is impossible to give one unique image, the target is to settle again the role of the embassy itself, changing it from a place of representation into an operative structure. |

| That’s why the spatial organization of this project is structured as a melt between private and public space, between temporary and permanent. The public space contains and develops different situations: an informative zone, an event zone, a free zone, and an auditorium zone. During the day each one of these zones expands or reduces due to the necessity, shaping public space according to a temporal program. Whereas private space contains various organizing spaces: a diplomatic area, an operating area, a cultural area, and a recreational area. These areas are conceived as a cellular aggregation, developing private space according to a connective program. Both private and public areas are at their turn divided in smaller elements generating infinite dynamics of spatial displacement and conformation. |

    This project moves from the idea of placing something under a skin. The development of an architecture structure is seen as a natural organism. Placing the embassy under the ground modifies the territory in the same way as a soft silicone-sack modifies a body. The aim of this loop between artificial and natural is to develop a continuity sight between the city and the landscape. The ground becomes a skin that once pulled and deformed gets irritated because of its transformation. The whole site is now turned into an urban park, an interchanging place, a link between the local culture and European ones. nicole_fvr nicole.fvr@tiscalinet.it |
Il gruppo
nicole_fvr (for visual research) nasce nel
maggio del 2000, per iniziativa di Tommaso Arcangioli, Gianfranco Bombaci, Domenico Cannistraci, Lorenzo Castagnoli, Pietro Chiodi, Matteo Costanzo, Valerio Franzone, Angelo Alessio Grasso. Nicole_fvr si muove tra esperienze individuali e collettive, nate sempre secondo combinazioni diverse tra i suoi membri. Il gruppo ha partecipato a diversi concorsi internazionali, workshop, ha realizzato siti web, grafica e video. Alcuni dei partecipanti a nicole_fvr portano avanti una ricerca parallela attraverso una elaborazione teorica curando
"2A+P rivista di progettazione". |
