NICOLE_FVR. geographiCITY

Maps shouldn’t be considered separately, what we have to consider are the relations between them. The interlacing and the mutual interaction of all the spheres of life, the complex links between nature, culture, economy, states and society mean that we can full understand the ground and its aspects just if it is into its context
Peter’s World Atlas

[10oct2001]
[in italiano]
In the cartography the city is always represented by an homogeneous color lacking in morphological and topographical information as if the urban territory is separated, devoid of continuity with the natural one.

GeographiCITY is instead a way to make a valid operative map for both the city and the whole landscape, capable to show the continuous changing of the earth ground caused by either natural effects, as the drift of the continents, or by the ones induced by man itself. The economical, political, and socio-cultural aspects, and the ecological care, as the climatic conditions and the telluric movements, became the instruments of the continuous deformation of the landscape.

GeographiCITY is a surface absorbing all the manifestations of contemporary society representing in every moment the changing of the city. Thanks to geography we can understand which is the ambit to record all the actions that influence the development of the urban organism: economical fluxes, population movements, colonization, scares and changing at both microscopic and macroscopic levels.

Doing in this way we can analyze the city removing any architectonic trace to better visualize it’s essence. GeographiCITY is the print of society, it is not a shape but an ever mutating geography.
