RULES In the year 2000, Sony Building will celebrate its 34th anniversary, and its external walls will be reinforced in order to conform to the regulations on aseismatic structure. Taking this opportunity, the sponsor wishes to hold a contest regarding the wall art design. Contest Name Sony Building's Wall Art Work Design Contest Objective The sponsor wants to hold this contest of the design of the side wall (height: 37.902m, width: 6.115m) facing the street of Harumi of Sony Building in Ginza to fit the urban landscape of Ginza in the 21st century. The grand prix design will be applied to the wall of the building by the end of this year. Entries Entries are accepted at this website only. There's no limitation based on nationalities or experience in designing. Anyone who can create a design by the computer is welcome. Judgement Prominent judges will judge entries, and one grand prix work and award-winning works will be selected. Background of the contest Reinforcement work of the external walls of Ginza SONY Building will be carried out in 2001 in order to conform to the regulations on aseismatic structure. Taking this opportunity, the sponsor wishes to renew the wall art design that has been popular for many years and wants to hold a worldwide contest of its design. ENTRY GUIDELINE Theme Design of the wall of the SONY Building to fit the urban landscape of Ginza in the 21st century. Eligibility of the work Any work that may suggest or inspire companies, products or any othercommercial entities shall be disqualified. In addition, any design thatclearly or obviously indicate, show or display any letter(s) orcharacter(s), number(s), human(s), animal(s), window(s) and other shapes shall be disqualified. Contest rules The theme of the work is for designing the wall of Sony building to fitthe urban landscape of Ginza in the 21st century and must not be any advertisement of any nature. The size of entries must maintain the proportion of the actualproduction (H: 37.902m x W: 6.115m). Make sure that the scale of your design work is correct. You can use 4 colors (C,M,Y,K), but as we use inkjet printing for outputting your work, don't use metal, pearl or fluorescent. Your work must accompany not only the design of your work but also its concept description (200 characters or less). Please give it in the form,together with the other required items to be filled out. You can enter your work only through the entry form at this website. The file must meet the image size requirements(3,100pixels long and 500 pixels wide, 72dpi) and file size (notexceeding 450kB). *No attachment to e-mail message or delivery of data on the floppydiskettes and other media will be accepted. Awards Grand Prix: 2,000,000 Japanese yen Prizes: Selected Sony products *The grand prix winning work will be used for the design of the wall of SONY Building. Please note that the design may be partially changed ormodified in order to conform to the regulations of Chuo Ward. Works entered Any work entered must be an original work published for the first time and should not infringe any intellectual properties of others. No entrieswill not be returned. Eligibility The contest is open to everyone, regardless of nationalities. Number of entries There's no limitation to entries. Use one entry form per work. There's nocontest fee for entries. Entry period June 19th, 2000 - August 10th, 2000 Notification The Winner will be notified at this Website in September 2000. All rights The sponsor shall reserve all rights including copyrights, intellectualproperty rights, etc. of award-winning entries as well as the right toexhibit and publish entries for advertising, public relations, and promotional purposes in any media without attribution or compensation.The sponsor also has the right to disqualify winners even after the awardis made public if there is a possibility of infringement of otherpeople's intellectual rights. Notification of contest results We will directly contact award-winning entrants after the judgement.
