TARGA BONETTO AWARD |

| The
Award Every year Smau and the Bonetto family sponsor a design competition for students from design schools and universities regarding ICT creations [Information Technology, telecommunications, Internet, technologies for the office and for the consumer market]. This event is held within the framework of the Smau Industrial Design Award. Over the years the contest has become increasingly successful thanks to a considerable rise in the number of participants, many of whom from abroad, and in the qualitative level of submissions. For this reason the Jury has decided to increase the number of winners. Three awards and three scholarships will now be awarded conceived as follows: 1st place - Itl. 5,000,000 2nd place - Itl. 3,000,000 3rd place - Itl. 2,000,000 What's more, the Jury may decide to assign special mention to outstanding projects or to schools that have presented a large number of high-quality submissions. The Targa Bonetto Award is endorsed by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design [ICSID] and is one of the most prestigious events in the field.Participation in the contest is open to competitors and representatives from the most diverse design cultures in the world. The participants The Targa Bonetto Award is reserved for both Italian and foreign students, with no age restrictions. Participation conditions 1] The Jury will examine research proposals, projects and models of instruments or products belonging to the ICT world, such as cameras, CD Roms, copiers, fax machines, information points, Internet sites, mouses, multi-function equipment, PCs [notebooks, palmtops, etc.], phones, printers, TVs and video cameras. In other words, all the technological objects you may find in an office or in a house. If you wish to receive a list of all the products allowed to take part in the competition - product classification - please contact the Smau Industrial Design Award Secretariat [see the application form] or view it on line in the section entitled "product classification". 2] To enter this competition, please fill out the enclosed form and fax or mail it to the Smau Industrial Design Award Secretariat by August 31, 2000. 3] The projects [70X100 cm] - which should not exceed three sheets - are to be submitted to the Smau Industrial Design Award Secretariat, possibly with a model and a few slides or pictures by September 20, 2000. The Jury The Targa Bonetto Award will be given by the members of the 33rd Smau Industrial Design Award Jury and Marco Bonetto [Bonetto Design], who will assist the Jury in the selection process. The prize-giving ceremony The selected projects will be exhibited at Smau [October 19-23, 2000, at the Milan Fair] in a special area devoted to the Smau Industrial Design Award. The prize-giving ceremony will be held between February and April 2001. The sponsors Having reached its 37th edition, Smau is the event which every year turns Milan into the hub of ICT on an international level. Rodolfo Bonetto was a world-famous designer, who devoted himself to spreading the principles of design. He was also the founder of the Smau Industrial Design Award, which for over 30 years has honored the products exhibited at Smau that are the best examples of innovation, functionality and user-friendliness.
