100% RUBBER DESIGN COMPETITION

Dalsouple

Submission Deadline: March 31, 2001
Open to: All
Entry Fee: None

Jury: Unannounced

Now in its fourth year, 100% Rubber continues to flourish. Any concerns that such a specialist competition might run out of steam have been totally squashed by the glorious originality and diversity of the entries that pour in each year from all over the world. No longer confined to the functional - the utilitarian welly boot and rubber glove - or the fetishist, rubber is stretching, curving and moulding itself into a new design identity.

100% Rubber 2001 is open to any artist, designer or student who uses rubber in their work on a functional or purely aesthetic basis. The amount of rubber used may be tiny, or the whole entry may be made of rubber. The objective is to find innovative uses for rubber in design, with an emphasis on creativity and wit.

Winning entries are exhibited in the 100% Rubber display on the Dalsouple stand at the 2001 100% Design Show in London, attracting a huge number of visitors. The winner of each category will receive a specially commissioned Dalsouple award. The overall winner will receive a check for £1000 plus a Dalsouple rubber floor for one room in their house. Additional prizes may be awarded at the judges' discretion.
