Using the 1964 Globe Trotter Airstream, design a high tech mobile office for an architect or designer. The project will be judged on the following criteria: flexibility, space efficiency, functionality, innovation, and concept realization.
Submissions will be judged for design excellence and functionality. The winning entries will be exhibited; therefore, completeness of the drawings is important. Please include a written abstract, not to exceed 100 words, that clearly outlines your design concept. Entries must adhere to concepts outlined in your abstract.
Specific requirements are as follows:
Solutions
1. Work space for two persons each requiring:
· Video Display
· Computer & Keyboard
· Task lighting & writing surface
· Anticipated use of additional laptop computer & shared desktop printer
· Limited storage for letter size files
2. Water Closet:
· Must be in the rear of the trailer where plumbing is located
· Single toilet and sink
3. Conferencing Area:
· One flexible conferencing area is required to accommodate up to four persons
· Seating should be comfortable to support informal meetings
· Computer and telephone ports are also to be used for drawing and materials review
· One flat screen TV for video conferencing
The minimum drawing requirements are:
· Scale floor plan drawn to a scale of ½" = 1"-0"
· Scale reflected ceiling plan drawn to a scale of ½" = 1"-0"
· Sufficient sections/ elevations through the trailer drawn to a scale of ¾" = 1"-0"
· Three dimensional drawings or video animation is encouraged
· Materials selection indicated by photography and specification
All submissions should be in a virtual format. The following file formats will be accepted:
· Animations (AVI/ Quick Time/ Real Video/ MPEG)
· Vector Graphics (DWG/ DXF/ DWF)
· Bitmap Graphics (TIFF/ JPEG/ PNG/ GIFF)
· Microsoft Suite (Power Point, Front Page, etc)
· Adobe Suite (Illustrator, PageMaker, PhotoShop, etc)
· Macromedia Suite (Flash, Generator, Shockwave)
