DuPont is pleased to announce the ninth in a series of student competitions of the innovative use of laminated glass. The 2000-2001 DuPont Benedictus Student Design Competition will challenge students from all regions of the world to design a new, freestanding Multipurpose Entertainment Retail Facility.
The competition will challenge students and faculty to address architectural issues surrounding the use of laminated glass in a theoretical design problem while exploring the various uses and applications of laminated glass as a building material. Product resource material will be made available to each school that registers. Criteria for judging will include successful, creative use of the material in the design solution, successful integration of the design into its surrounding context, successful response to the environmental context, and successful response to basic architectural concepts such as human activity needs, structural integrity, and coherence of architectural vocabulary.
Competition program PDF file is available on the competition website.
