Founded in 1926, the FJCC serves a 260 family congregation through religious services, educational programs, and the enhancement of Jewish life in the Flemington area, and also offers a range of inter-denominational outreach programs serving the greater Hunterdon County community. The aim of the competition is to select an architect to design a new Jewish Community Center, of approximately 23,000 square feet, on a 4.5 acre site in Flemington, New Jersey. The challenge is to create an innovative and affordable design which seeks to address the current and future needs of the FJCC congregation. The facility must also reflect the goals and activities appropriate to the spiritual and social life of the FJCC congregation, as well as being perceived as a community asset. The competition is open to individuals licensed to practice architecture in the United States, or teams led by a licensed U.S. architect.
