| This ideas competition is organised by the Suburb Research Project at the Aarhus School of Architecture in collaboration with the Danish Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The competition is based on a research project concerning urban renewal and development in suburbs funded by the welfare research programme of the Danish Research Agency and the Aarhus School of Architecture. The findings of the research project are included in the competition brief and its annexes. They highlight the issues and problems to which entrants in the competition must propose solutions. The purpose of the competition concerning the new suburb is to draw on the traditions of architects, urban developers and people working in related areas of devising coherent social and urban visions, images of the good city and good urban life, and proposals for built-up welfare on new societal conditions. Queries about the competition shall be sent in written to the Compeition Secretariat no later than 20 February 2001. The final deadline for submission of entries is 19 April 2001. It is expected that the result of the competition will be announced by the end of May 2001. The total prize sum in this competition is DKK 1.3 million. Of this sum at least DKK 300,000 will be paid to the winning entry.
