2ND MARKSMAN DESIGN AWARD

Business gifts designed to reflect the latest trends
'Outdoor pleasure' is theme of Second Marksman Design Award

Striking a balance between work and leisure is not always easy. And yet people are focussing their attention more and more on making the most of their free time, with increased enjoyment the key priority. But a quick glance at what is available shows how limited the range of business gifts specifically designed for this purpose actually is. This is why the second edition of the Marksman Design Award has chosen to highlight that vital balance between work and leisure, under the title 'Outdoor (pleasure)'.

PF Concept International, the largest manufacturer of business gifts in Europe, Asia and the US, challenges young up-and-coming students of graphic and industrial design to design a business gift that reflects the chosen theme. The entries will principally be assessed for both originality and functionality, though the final decisions will also rest on whether the design is suited to mass production, fits in with the marksman Design Collection and on how the student justifies their design. The Marksman collection includes high-quality innovative business gifts, with the accent on design.

Total prize money: 16,000 US dollars
The total prize money for the Marksman Design Award is 16,000 US dollars, with a top prize of 10,000 US dollars. If the winning design meets all the criteria, PF Concept International will add it to the Marksman collection. The winning student will also join PF Concept International on a trip to Asia for a closer look at the manufacturing process. The second prize is 2,500 US dollars, and the third prize is 1,000 US dollars. The jury can also award honourable mentions, each worth 500 US dollars.

The closing date for registration is 30 March 2001, the deadline for design entries is 30 May 2001 and the winners will be announced at the end of July.

The international jury for the Marksman Design Award 2001 includes the following dignitaries:
