THE 6TH INTERNATIONAL BICYCLE DESIGN COMPETITION
The International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID) has endorsed this competition.

b. Deadline for Submitting Works for Initial Evaluation Stage: August 10, 2001
(No entries will be accepted after 5:00 p.m. on August 10, 2001, Taipei time.
Please allow plenty of time for time differences and mailing time when submitting your works.)
c. Notification of the Initial Evaluation Results: Before September 15, 2001
d. Deadline for Submitting Works for Final Evaluation Stage: January 10, 2002

[Rules & Regulations]

1.Theme of Competition: 
Human power driven 2-wheel bicycle
<Note> 1.Other auxiliary powers are also acceptable. 2.The 2-wheel criterion doesn't restrict the auxiliary wheels for the aged, children or handicapped.

2.Entrance Fee: 
No entry fee will be charged.

3.Qualifications for Participation: 
All individuals or groups (2~4 persons in each group) interested in the competition are welcome to participate, regardless of nationality, gender, race or age.

4.Guidelines of Competition:
(1)Applicants can register over the net, or send the Application Form by facsimile or postal mail. The Application Form is seen as Appendix I.
(2)Applicants can enter the Initial Evaluation after registration.
(3)At the conclusion of the Initial Evaluation, the Evaluation Jury will select top twenty-four (24) entries to enter the Final Evaluation.
(4)At the end of the Final Evaluation, the Evaluation Jury will determine the rank of position.
(5)The final results will be announced at the award ceremony.

5.Works and Document for Competition:
(1)Initial Evaluation
A.Description of entry (the total words should be between 300 to 500.)
Contents should include:
a.Title of Entry
b.Concept of Design
c.Target Market
d.Innovative Features
B.An orthographic layout with dimensions 
(Mark major dimensions on the front, side and top view drawings.)
C.A structure design drawing 
(Show the special structures of your design. You may give description in English.)
D.A rendering drawing 
(An interpretative drawing depicting your design including background.)
E.Fill in the Entrant Declaration (Appendix. II) completely with autograph(s)

Remarks: Works A through D must be adhered to thick cardboard individually, and
the size must be approximately 540mm X 380mm for each work. Please write down 
the participant's name and contact information on the back of each cardboard.

(2)Final Evaluation
A.1/3 scale model (including the base to support the model)
The model's base must be 700mm X 350mm, and its height, including the model
and the base, must be less than 400mm.
B.One set of 35mm color slides
a.Two slides from the left and right side view (one with and without gear
respectively) of the model.
b.Two slides from frontal and rear perspective views of the model.
c.One to five other slides.

6.Criteria for Evaluation:
(1)Possibility (40%)
* Manufacturing technology and mass-production practicality
* Designs should meet safety requirements and be cost-effective
(2)Innovation (40%)
* Potential and novelty of mechanical components / structure design
(3)Others (20%)
* Appearance, ergonomic considerations and drawing/model presentation, etc.

3.Third Prize (3 winners/groups)
(1)Prize of NT$100,000 for each winner/group

4.Excellent Prize (6 winners/groups)
(1)Prize of NT$30,000 for each winner/group
