1. Theme

"Next Generation Mitsubishi Cross Country Vehicles" 

Environmentally conscious designs. 
Designs highlighting enjoyment of the earth. 
Designs leading to the development of new genres and purposes for cross country vehicles. 



2. Eligibility

This competition is open to any individuals, amateur or professional, who are interested in design and are skilled in graphic design (e.g. sketching, drawing, drafting, computer graphic design) and photography. 
There are no restrictions as to age or nationality. 



3. Number of Entries

Any individual or group involved in producing an entry may apply. 
There is no limit to the number of entries which may be submitted. 



4. How to Enter

Submit graphics (sketches, drafts, drawings, computer graphics, etc.) or/and photographs and a concept description. They should be mounted on A2-size (420mm * 594mm) presentation boards. Each entry should not exceed 3 presentation boards. 
Affix the appropriate section of the entry form to the back of the panels. 
Models and other 3-demensional objects will not be accepted. 
Complete the form in English or Japanese only. 
For groups, provide a group name, select one representative, and then place the group and the representative names in the appropriate fields of the entry form. 
Only one entry is allowed per entry form. 



5. Deadline

Tuesday, November 20, 2001 

Entries can be submitted to our office between 10am and 6pm, Monday through Friday (except for national holidays). They may be mailed or delivered in person. 
Submissions by E-mail/Internet will not be accepted.

7. Selection Criteria

Relevance to the theme 
Design quality 
Originality 
Environmental considerations 
Universal attributes (being useful to all users regardless of age, gender or disability) 
Safety 
Development potential, etc. 



8. Screening

Slated for December 2001. 
Designers from Mitsubishi Motors will screen all entries and select about 30 designs. (The chairman of the Screening Committee is Mr. Olivier Boulay.) 

Designs which pass the initial screening will be presented on the Competition website from December 2001 to January 2002. A popularity poll will commence and the design which receives the most votes will be chosen for the "Internet Prize". 
Final selections for each prize will be chosen by Mitsubishi Motors and outside experts in February 2002. 



9. Prize

Grand Prize (1): 800,000 yen and trophy. (In the event that no designs are deemed worthy of the grand prize, the prize money may be distributed among the other winners.) 
Internet Prize (1): 200,000 yen and trophy. (This prize may be awarded in conjunction with the Grand Prize to a single design.) 
Extra Prize (3 to 4): 600,000yen (to be divided among the winners) and trophy. 
NOTE: Outstanding designs that failed to win prizes may still be adopted as candidates for new models.



10. Notice of Received Works

After receiving an entry and entry form, each applicant will be registered and notified by mail.



11. Announcement of Results

Results from the initial screening will be posted on the Competition website. 
Results (written notification) from the final selection will be sent to the winners by mail. 
Please note that information concerning final results will not be provided over the phone. 



12. Rules and Terms

When mailing entries, insurance coverage is recommended in case of damage or loss during shipping. 
The applicant shall bear all shipping costs. When shipping from overseas, packages must be clearly marked "no commercial value" to avoid customs charges. Large and excessively wrapped articles run the risk of being considered valuable items and taxed. 
Entries must be original, unpublished works, to which the applicant owns all rights. 
Works entered into this competition may not be submitted to other competitions or published without the permission of Mitsubishi Motors. 
Any applicant who wishes to protect his/her work by obtaining copyrights, design rights and/or any other intellectual property right must do so at his/her own expense. By entering the competition the applicant agrees that Mitsubishi Motors may use the submitted design for research purposes without restrictions. 
For prize works or any other work selected by Mitsubishi Motors, the applicant agrees either to transfer to Mitsubishi Motors his/her intellectual property rights, or to grant Mitsubishi Motors the license to use such rights when Mitsubishi Motors so wishes. 
Entries will not be returned. All applicants are personally responsible for making any copies of the designs before submitting them. 



13. Announcement of Winners

Final results, including winning designs, will be provided on our website after the end of March 2002. (Acceptance of a prize offered constitutes permission to post the winners' names and submitted designs for promotional purposes without further competition as permitted by law.)
