48th I.D.MAGAZINE ANNUAL DESIGN REVIEW

CATEGORIES 

Consumer Products 
Electronics, appliances, residential/portable computers, housewares, fashion, accessories, toys, sports/leisure equipment, jewelry, musical instruments, eyewear, transportation devices for personal use: planes, trains, cars, all-terrain vehicles, alternative vehicles, etc. 

Graphics 
Visual projects for commercial, editorial, promotional, public or personal use,including books, magazines, advertisements, posters, annual reports, interior signage, identity programs, logotypes, stationery, motion graphics, videos, bumpers and film titles 

Environments 
Commercial or professional interiors, including those of museums, galleries and showrooms; buildings for health, education, government and transportation; stores, restaurants, entertainment and leisure facilities; and public open spaces, urban landscaping and environmental/exterior signage 

Furniture 
Contract and residential furnishings, lighting fixtures and one-off designs; textiles, surfaces and other materials, including wall, door, window and furniture coverings, carpets, tiles, laminates, etc. 

Equipment 
Business, medical, industrial, military and scientific products; instruments, apparatuses and computers for professional use; commercial and industrial vehicles 

Packaging 
Graphic and structural packaging programs for retail, wholesale, promotional and industrial use, including containers, bags, boxes, bottles, tubes, labels, and book, CD and CD-ROM covers 

Student work and concepts 
Projects or products not yet manufactured that explore the possibilities of design or technology 

Interactive media

CATEGORY REQUIREMENTS 

Consumer products,equipment,furniture,lighting and surfaces 
Actual objects are preferred for entries that do not exceed 15 lbs.or 18"x 18"x 18";slides or transparencies are preferred when object is not sent.Finalists may be asked to submit a free sample to be photographed. Additional materials can include drawings,brochures,specifications and fact sheets. 

Environments 
Include slides or transparencies of installation views and plans or drawings to convey a clear understanding of the project's context,circulation routes and major design/construction features.All images should be clearly annotated and cross-referenced to the overall floor plan. 

Graphics and packaging 
Two actual samples must be submitted along with slides or transparencies.For billboards or other large-scale projects,submit slides or transparencies. 
Non-print submissions (lm,video,computer graphics,etc.) must be accompanied by 1 /2-inch (VHS)videotape or a Mac format DVD or CD. 

Student work and concepts 
Drawings,samples,renderings,comps,mock-ups,slides,photos or other appropriate materials are required.Please do not submit original models if fragile. 

Designs may be entered in more than one category;submit separate entry form and fee for each category.Judges reserve the right to recategorize entries;to create new categories,if appropriate;and to withhold place awards if they see fit. 



GENERAL INFORMATION 

Eligibility 
Any project or product that will be introduced anywhere in the world between January 1, 2001, and December 31, 2001. 

Awards 
All entries will be prescreened.A panel of distinguished design professionals will choose three levels of awards from among the finalists in each category:Best of Category,Design Distinction and Honorable Mention. 
Award winners will be featured in the August 2002 edition of I.D.Magazine and may appear on the I.D.Web site ( http://www.idonline.com ). 

Fees 
Entry fees are $100 for each submission.Student fees are $50 for each submission when accompanied by a photocopy of a valid school ID. 

Late entries 
A late fee of $25 for each submission is required with entries not postmarked by November 30.No entries will be accepted after December 14,2001.
