In the event that Frankfurt is successful in its bid for the 2012 Games, the winning firm will have earned the opportunity to enter into a contract with the Deutsche Bundesbahn and City of Frankfurt in order to realize this project. The competition will be narrowed to 30 participants of which 25 will be selected through a lottery from the original shortlist of 50. The additional 5 will be invited participants.
