ARMADA WAY PAVILION

Expressions of interest are sought for design teams to take part in a competition on a significant city centre site in Plymouth.

The project involves the redevelopment of Armada Way (at the very commercial heart of the centre) with a unique 'pavilion' development to provide high quality food and drink facility. The new building must incorporate a mix of uses including cafes, restaurant, brasserie/bar, evening venue, tourist information centre, ancillary facilities and associated commercial operations. The scheme shall also require a new landscape design, to achieve an integrated re-modelling and create a more distinguished treatment to better reflect the civic significance of this important location and thus establish an exemplar for future re-landscaping of the street.

The competition will seek designs that demonstrate contemporary innovation and high design standards, whilst providing market tested evidence of commecial viability. The promoter of the competition, Plymouth City Council, is seeking expressions of interest from design teams with all the appropraite disciplines to deliver the project.

Anyone interested in the competition should contact the RIBA Competitions Office for an Outline Project Brief and application details. The deadline for expressions of interest is 11 July 2002.
