| OLYMPIC GAMES 2004 ephemeral architectural structures |

| Submissions are being sought for an international competition to design "ephemeral" architectural structures in Athens for the 2004 Olympic Games. The structures must relate to specific programmes and themes that will generate cultural events. For example: event platforms for music, dance and other performances, open-air theatres that hold up to 500 people and semi-open exhibition spaces. No specific site is given for the installation of structures. They should be flexible, easy to mount and dismantle. They will initially be installed in the city of Athens and then move to other Olympic cities. The competition involves two categories: a professional competition open to architects and an "ideas competition" open to students of architecture. Professional architects can submit ideas for "landmark" structures for Olympic activities. The registration deadline is 8 July 2002, with submissions due by 11 November 2002.
