2003 AIA ARCHITECTURAL PHOTO CONTEST

American Institute of Architects St. Louis again presents the AIA Photography Competition. The top 15 entries will be exhibited at the 2003 AIA National Convention. Images for the 2005 Engagement Calendar will be selected from all submitted entries and will include the 15 winning images. 

This competition is open to any and all architects actively registered in the United States. The contest is also open to Associate members of the AIA, and student members of AIAS in good standing. Professional Affiliate or Allied members are not eligible. Slides submitted by ineligible individuals will not be processed. Slides must be marked in accordance with the rules. (See 10.)

15 winning images will be selected. 5 will receive cash prizes: 
-First Place: $500
-Second Place: $400
-Third Place: $300
-Louise Bethune Award: $200
-Digital Category: $200

Louise Bethune was the first female American architect. The subject, therefore, of this award must be located in the United States. No image will receive more than one cash award.

SLIDES WILL NOT BE RETURNED AND WILL BECOME PROPERTY OF AIA ST LOUIS.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
1. Only 2" x 2" 35mm color slides may be entered. Note: Digital images will only be accepted in 35mm slide format and must be clearly marked "digital" on entry form and slide as they will be judged in a separate category.
2. Entries must have been exposed by and be owned by the entrant.
3. Images previously published and/or pending publication or cash winning images in previous AIA Photography competitions are not eligible.
4. ENTRY FEE FOR AIA MEMBERS IS $30; AIAS MEMBERS IS $15; ENTRY FEE FOR NON-MEMBER REGISTERED ARCHITECTS IS $50.00. ENTRANTS MAY SUBMIT UP TO FIVE (5) SLIDES FOR EACH ENTRY FEE. ENTRANTS MAY ENTER AS MANY TIMES AS DESIRED.
5. The entry fee is non-refundable and must accompany the slides entered.
6. The subject matter must have an architectural theme or must contain some element of the manmade environment. Photographic interpretation of the subject matter is the issue, not the architecture.
7. Slides that do not fit in a standard slide carousel will not be judged. Please do not send glass mounted slides. 
8. Entrants grant permission to the AIA to reproduce slides for exhibitions, AIA publications and for promotional purposes. All reproductions will become the property of AIA St. Louis.
9. The decision of the judges is final on all matters relating to the competition.
10. Clearly mark on the front face of each slide the following information:
a. Entrant's name
b. Slide title
c. Slide identification (A,B,C,D,E) as listed on entry form
d. The top of the image (please draw an arrow indicating direction).
11. ENTRIES MUST BE POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN MARCH 3, 2003 and include:
a. Completed entry form
b. Entry fee (check or money order) made payable to: AIA St. Louis. 
12. Entries shall be mailed to the address listed below.
13. Void where prohibited by law.
14. Submission of slides implies entrant's acceptance of all of the above conditions. To verify receipt of your entries, we suggest you ship registered mail or use a private shipping company.
