the designers of the 3 winning entries will be granted with cash prize
awards:
- 1st
prize euro 2500
- 2nd prize euro 1500
- 3rd prize euro 1000
the jury
will also assign honorable mentions to projects (beyond the third
prize) for excellent design. winners and honorable mentions will be
promoted by DuPont via media relations activities. designboom will
publish an exhaustive results report.

design criteria
projects
will be judged by their effectiveness (correct use of Corian®
specific qualities):
- it may be curved and carved to obtain any type of design
- it may be jointed seamlessly to look like a 'solid-piece' design
- it could be backlit and give a light impression
- it is hygienic, easy to maintain, non-porous
- it blends perfect with other materials
- it has a silk-like touch and sound reflector features

(for example: new concepts for eating and serving ...) a skilful balance
between the material - Corian® - and the 'social side' where people
may get together to conduct an informal business meeting, a resting
place between shopping, a hang out for young people, a study hall

application registration will be accepted through april 25, 2003 (there
is a maximum enrollment, registration may close prior to that deadline)

an entry number.

deadline for submission of entries
works can be submitted through may 20, 2003

entries
entries will be accepted from individuals or teams (max. 2 works).
we are looking for new designs and concepts, but also your already
existing projects and applications with Corian® will be accepted.
the design documents are to consist of the following two elements:
1) works
(works should be prepared in a high resolution - 300dpi -, in the
event of a winning design: we will request your high-resolution images.)
as final files are usually too big to send via e-mail, you are asked
to forward a lower resolution copy : only gif and jpeg file formats
will be accepted, 1Mb max.
each
work should be forwarded in a separate e-mail. your works should include
your entry number and the title of work.
please
send them to DuPont_Corian_Award@designboom.com, we will send you
an e-mail receipt of your work as soon as we receive it.
2) authorship
and explanation of ideas
a brief description of your work within 100 words (english text only,
explanation is expected to be concise) and a declaration of authorship.
please add:
the design is my own creation and has been developed in conformity
with the competitions guideline.
(competitions
guideline: projects participating to the competition, must be original
works. projects must be free from copyrights and any kind of obligation.
the design shall not in any way infringe any third partys right,
including but not limited to copyright, logos, trademark, trade names,
or other proprietary rights of publicity or privacy. only entries
with a declaration of authorship are accepted!)

any moral and paternity right regarding the project sent in for application
is designers property. however, DuPont and designboom own the
right of exhibition and publication of all the work sent in.
