		2003 INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR UIA ISTANBUL 2005 CONGRESS LOGO Concorso di idee aperto a tutti per la creazione del nuovo logo dell'UIA
		In the framework of the 22nd UIA Congress which will be held in Istanbul (Turkey) in July 2005, its organiser the Chamber of Architects of Turkey launches, on Internet, an international competition for the design of the UIA Istanbul 2005 logo. The competition is organised with the support of the UIA and the Graphic Artists Professional Institution. The competition is open to all, without restrictions of age, of nationality or of profession. It aims to develop a creative concept in line with contemporary design standards for all Congress promotion and communication. The logo will be used on all official Congress documents and by-products. The design of the logo may be based on an idea or image of the architectural culture or profession. The collective representation of the knowledge, values and ideals shared by the worlds ‘ architects is primordial in the design of the logo. The venue and theme of the Congress: the Grand Bazaar of ArchitectureS may also be used as a source of inspiration for the creation of an identifiable and inviting image for UIA 2005 Istanbul. In this case, the logo graphics should be evocative of Istanbul, Turkey or the theme of "Bazaar". The minimum requirement of the logo is that it should include the title: UIA 2005 Istanbul or uia 2005 istanbul. JURY A preliminary selection of all the entries will be carried out on Internet. All participants can vote for the project of their choice, with the exception of their own. The 50 projects having received the largest number of votes will be presented to an international jury composed of: Kamer Altinova (graphic designer); Aydan Balamir (architect); Yesim Demir (graphic designer); Önder Gürkan (industrial designer), Sadik Karamustafa (graphic designer), Paul McMillen (creative director and photographer), Suha Özkan (architect), Cagla Turgul (graphic designer), Nejat Emrah Yörük (graphic designer) and two reserve jury members : Cigdem Türkoglu (architect) and Fatih Söyler (architect). TIMETABLE Announcement of the competition: 24 February 2003 Deadline for questions: 14 March 2003 Deadline for replies to questions: 24 March 2003 Deadline for registration and submission: 18 April 2003 Selection on Internet: 21 April 2 May 2003 Final selection by the jury: 16-18 May 2003 Announcement of the winners: 20 May 2003 PRIZES Three prizes will be awarded: The first for a sum of 3 000 US $ plus an invitation to the Congress; the second for the sum of 1 500 US $; the third for the sum of 1000 US $.
