Anna Klamroth
Sportfrei
Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen "Konrad Wolf"
Deutscheland 2000, 13’

Once it was the swimming stadium the GDR used for representation, but now it is place of encounter of a totally different kind. Since two years Rico, Enni, Tom, Steven and Christian have been meeting every day in the ruins of the old "Friesenstadion" at Friedrichshain in Berlin. Sometimes they just sit there, but generally they practise their personal ‘sport’. They play hockey with empty tins, long distance throws from the stand with ash-trays, etc. In the documentary we try to draw a picture of the clique and ‘their’ place; this means also to portray the old Friesenstadion. It is a space cut off from the rest of the world and still the very centre of the capital. It is where a group of people has conquered a territory and where life has a different nature.

Anna Klamroth was born in 1975, in Berlin. She has studied physics at the FU, in Berlin. She has attended a practical training at the Grundy UFA Filmprodukcion and another at the Theater in Constanz. Since 1997, she has been studying film and television dramaturgy at the HFF Konrad Wolf. Films: “Nocturne” (screenplay), directed by Luciano Cervio.
