 Philipp Krebs, Matthias Widter >can`t tin< as_architecture Austria 2000, 3’55” The clip is processing the conception of a conversion of a factory canteen. The production buildings and warehouses of a company that manufactures sun screen systems are located in the former indoor tennis halls. The intention was to indicate new company and ownership structures by converting the previously unaltered tennis cafe into a contemporary canteen. The concept is based on escaping from the constraints imposed by space and the object itself. The use of glass, the load-bearing structure as well as the directional system and wall create layers of various densities and meaning which, depending on the particular focus, can stand either in the foreground or in the background. Bright red provides a single accent of colour in the restrained white-grey-black colour scheme. Through the clip, like a walk-in spatial object, space is shaped, zoned and dimensioned. Levels of collective communication are possible as well as individual experience. Borders fluctuate, boundaries are individual. We intend to convey a sensuous and sensual acquaintance with space and material and a different view to the realized project. Established 99 by Philipp Krebs and Matthias Widter - both born 68 - raum.film is designing and producing videos in the field of architecture, urban design and planning. As apprenticed architect and regional planner the specialized knowledge is combined with many years of experience of professional video- and tv-production. as_architecture (Judith Augustinovic and Herbert Stattler, both born 66) are cooperating since their study in architecture. Starting 96 with the diplom they are working in the expanded field of architecture. Works include realisation in different fields as well as participations in exhibition. Apart from their as_architecture office both are working in the academic area, institute for design and building construction and institute of artistic structuring. |
