Mutation Urbaine
École d'Architecture de Paris Val de Marne
France 2000, 9’

Urban change is a reality developing under our eyes: since the city can no longer fulfill its needs, it has to evolve. This work is a project of renovation of the old Renault factories in Boulogne-Billancourt. It is an alternative to the various projects which have been already presented and, at in the meantime, it is an answer to the interpellation made by the trade union of Val de Seine which requested an area of one million square meters where to build.

Hervé Griffon was born in 1974 and obtained his D.P.L.G. diploma in 2000. In 1997 and 1998, he was a finalist of the “Grand Prix d’Architecture” (the French academy).

Sébastien Mazard was born in 1974 and obtained his D.P.L.G. diploma in 2000. In 1996 and 1997, he studied architecture at the University of Architecture in Luton, near London.

Jean Navarro was born in 1971 and obtained his D.P.L.G. diploma in 2000. In 1996 and 1997, he studied at the University of Architecture of Madrid.

Florent Roubertie was born in 1974. He has obtained a D.P.L.G. diploma. In 1996 and 1997, he studied at the University of Architecture in Luton, near London. In 1996, he was awarded the second price of the “Grand Prix d’Architecture” (the French academy).

We have been friends for 10 years and we share the same passion. Each of us has studied in the same Studio in Paris. We have been twice (in July 1998 and July 1999) to Pietra Monte Corvino, in Italy, in order to work for an International Laboratory of architectural and urban projects. Currently, we are all working in different agencies in Paris. We are taking part in competitions and/or rehabilitation projects. During holidays, we love travelling in different places all around Europe to discover famous architects, such as Nouvel, Koolhass, MVRDV, Herzog and de Meuron, Piano, Siza, Souto de Moura…We have been working together for our diploma. Our subject was a research on the urban mutation. The video we present is the fruit of 18 months of work.
