 son:DA .drog -.pole Slovenia 2000, 8’28” The concept of an experimental documentary with a title ".drog" or in English ".pole" is based on a triangle of duels. The first duel is a duel of shape, a duel of form. It´s the audio part against the video part. The second one is a duel between the natural environment on the planet versus the urban environment made by civilisation. And the third one, the so called "story-line duel", is a duel between a disabled human being on one side and an electric pole on the other. All three of them are combined into one thing, into a song or a poem (eight minutes long) that has a refrain and an essence we could put into one sentence. Urban transformation as a necessary phenomenon, as a step into the natural surroundings, as a step into architectural planning. Everything is black and white. The varieties among people and their ways of living are so small and so big at the same time. The connections between a living human being and a dead object are at the same time unbelievable, incredible. This documentary has been shot and made in different European countries during the Summer of 2000. It has very different approaches to the images and to sound, that means to the making and the meaning of them. son:DA is a connection, a tie between two anonymous artists from Slovenia. It combines experimenting and working with sound, space, still and moving pictures. The fundamental strategy is to connect a message-statement with a story, a scientific research and field studies with the creative freedom of the individual, of a man and a woman. Real names are not important; only the idea and its development through work are. son:DA gives a lot of attention to using different techniques and ways of creating, from digital to analogic and natural devices. son:DA is a child of the year 2000. |
