Wil Arndt a(n) advertisement for living MOD7 COMMUNICATIONS INC Canada 2000 “a(n) advertisement for living” is a series of playful and experimental videos presented in CD-ROM format that explores the relationship between the inhabited environment and emerging spatial paradigms. Inspired by the works of leading ‘virtual architects’ such as Marcos Novac, pop stars like U2, city living, the ‘new media elite’, and the much hyped ‘information revolution’; this project’s sometimes dogmatic voice expresses a sort of post-info-urban manifesto for a new generation of city inhabitants. Wil Arndt. “a(n) advertisement for living” was developed by Wil Arndt as his senior effort at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, Canada. He injects his graduation thesis with perspectives gained during four years as a student of architectural practice at Mikesell & Associates. Born and raised in Philadelphia, and having lived in the New York metropolitan area, Wil describes how current urban conditions and the behaviour of the inhabitants within those conditions demand a new and flexible thinking behind urban planning. Currently, Wil is one of three principals at MOD7 Communications, a Vancouver-based developer of new and innovative ‘experiences’ and technology solutions. |
