![]() Splitterwerk (Vera Freißmuth, Alois Gstoettner, Nikolaos Zachariadis) w#plus Austria 1999, 2’ Living and working in the information age. This contribution – entitled “w#plus” – is divided as proposed into the two aspects, i.e. the utilisation and design concept and the actual housing estate, as a contribution to the subject of living and working. The apartment as a studio, reality is replaced with observability. At a time where the master plan and rigid models are held to be outdated, it is imperative that we develop dynamic ways of looking at problems – i.e. that modern questions themselves must be subject to a process and that they must in turn react to changes. For example, the question of the compatibility of telework and home is to be discussed. It is certainly of great importance how the previously strictly divided functions of working, on the one hand, and living, on the other, are joined together to form a new functional unit. Depending on the divisibility (not only physical but also mental), we must distinguish between living and working in combine as teleliving, a workplace inserted in the living space as a kind of enclave, completely separated and yet directly accessible units (on the same storey, one storey lower), living and working internally linked, but as a joint office with the neighbour or accessible via a public space, to name but a few examples. Splitterwerk are Laboratories for research, science and realization in architecture, urban design, fine arts and new media. Splitterwerk is Mark Blaschitz, Peter Heitzinger, Edith Hemmrich, Bernhard Kargl, Josef Roschitz, Thomas Zinterl, Johann Grabner, Gernot Ritter, Markus Michael Zechner, Peter Schreibmayer, Peter Hammerl, Claudia Vallant, Veronika Hofrichter, Hans-Jörg Tschom, Doris Dockner, Wolfgang Reinisch, Ester Lorenz, Christoph Gehmacher, Wolfgang Weixler, Nikolaos Zachariadis, Vera Freißmuth, Jörg Kindermann, Hannes Freißmuth and Alois Gstöttner. |
