Manuel Couceiro da Costa
Geometry, Architecture and Video
Univeristade Técnica de Lisboa, Facultade de Arquitectura
Portugal 2000, 16’13”

This is a work exploring a theory of the relation between Geometry and Architecture, which is based on two main line forces: representation, which deals with drawings, images and thus with projection systems, and form structure, considering Geometry as a support for technical, functional and eurhythmic aspects. The video was produced on the base of several works of students of the Architecture Department of the Technical University of Lisbon, and it has been realized in different classes of the 1st and 2nd level, namely Drawing, Geometry and CAD, which concern the main topics of that theory, although not initially created for this purpose.

Manuel Couceiro da Costa, Univeristade Técnica de Lisboa. "Geometry, Architecture and Video" is the work of a team of the Architecture Department of the Technical University of Lisbon. It has been prepared for the 5th International Festival of Architecture in Video/Florence 2000, and it has been organized around a theory of "Geometry applied to Architecture". The theory has been developed by Prof. Manuel Couceiro da Costa, who is also the co-ordinator of the video production. The students' works have been prepared during Drawing, Geometry ad CAD classes, in the 1st and 2nd level of Architecture and of Design. The post-production of the video has been done in the Center of Audio-Visual of the Architecture Department.
