Airport Service at Orio al Serio, Bergamo / built project. The project, 70.000 sqm with 4.000 parking spaces and the main front of 360 m, represents a challenge to 'commercial kitsch'. In order to overcome the problems connected with the high livel of pollution caused by motorways, the exterior skin is in galvanized steel corrugated, perforated and coloured. The surface looks alive: changing with different light conditions they give an unusual impression of lightness. Cinema Astra reconvertion in a multi-store, Milan. The Astra Cinema, built by M.G.M. soon after the Second World War, has a high iconographic value. The project points to save the memory of the original: it keeps and takes the most from the existing foyer, stalls and structures. The commercial programme ties to the image of the cinema: in the multi-store there are different types of screen for projections. The new structures are in metal and glass and they harmonize with the existing structural scheme in order to 'transform without destroying'.

Massimo Bressanelli (1966), Mauro Piantelli (1966), Ivan Trapella (1967) and Carlo Vailati (1966) met at the Milan Polytechnic and in 1991 they founded the architectural studio De Otto Associates. They have designed a series of housing, a sport center and a number of shops. In the last years they collaborated with Afra and Tobia Scarpa. Among the last projects the reconversion of an industrial area and a multiplex in Bergamo and a bath complex in Sondrio.
