2G Competition, Head Office of the Fundaciò Mies van der Rohe Barcelona / selected project / with Ha Lim Lee. The project comes from a re-interpretation of Mies' masterpiece as an emblem of human condition in post-modern era. It starts from the analysis of the system of voids underlying the composition of spaces and the assemblage of parts and materials in the pavilion. In the new building voids are treated as solid matter: convoluted, framed, empty, fluid, filed voids are intertwined, overlapped, interlocked, sectioned, cut, connected, dissected, excavated. A Collection Museum in Harlem, New York / Lucille Smyser Lowenfish Memorial Prize, Columbia University New York. The project focuses on the invention and public display of a collection. The design of a museum is addressed through the consideration of the essence of the original versus simulation. This phenomenological study attempts to shape a place for a collection of 'angels' as a paradigm of the electronic age. A machine to capture angels is invented.
