DELUGAN-MEISSL. Balken/Parz. 13

[in italiano] The housing project hovers on a fair-faced steel concrete structure alongside the banks of the the river Danube.

The 190 flats are accessed from the north via glazed arcades which are clearly seperated from the building by a continuous void.

[13jul2002]

All flats are oriented south towards the river, each with its own generous loggia. Glass ballustrades with bar code printing and large scale glazing of the riverside fassade allow for the necessary daylight to penetrate the 20m deep block.

By stepping back with the eighth storey an elegant line is achieved. Lifting the "beam" on pilotis generates transparency, intrigueing view axes and sequences of space. To deal with public, semi-public and private "liquid" spaces is the key concept for this project.
