Liberty Science Center (LSC) and GPU Energy announce

SolarScapes
An open competition for the commission of two solar-powered art/exhibit projects.

COMMISSIONS

To create 1) an illuminated work to serve as a "beacon" in the Liberty Science Center 150-foot high Tower ($70,000); and 2) an educational and interactive exhibit station demonstrating the principle of solar power on an outdoor deck ($40,000). Both works will be required to operate with power generated from photovoltaic cells. One finalist will be selected for each project. Prior experience with solar power is not required if your budget includes a lighting engineer as a consultant for this aspect. All aspects of the design, and fabrication will be done off-site and are the responsibility of the artist/designer. Winners will also give a limited number of public demo/presentations at LSC about their winning projects.
