The Design Challenge
Introduction:
The Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, Inc. is
pleased to announce an international design competition for a memorial to
honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Washington, D.C.
The competition challenges entrants to design a "living memorial"
encompassing Dr. Kings spirituality, his leadership and his personal
sacrifice in the movement for social justice and his message of hope for
all humanity.
Sited on the Mall of the Capital City of the United States, the Memorial is
inspired by three major themes - the Man, the Movement, the Message.
Collectively, these three themes provide guidance and illumination for the
international design community.
