Sapporo International Design Competition

The City of Sapporo created the Sapporo International Design Competition in 1991, utilizing the 100 Million Yen Hometown Development Plan (a subsidy allocated from the national budget for each municipality's own unique
development project).
Excellent designs have diverse possibilities, making daily life beautiful and comfortable with functions and amenities, and leading to the promotion of industry and culture.
Considering such designs important factors in city development, the Sapporo International Design Competition has been held every other year since 1991, with the objective of promoting designs as part of citizens' culture deeply
rooted in their daily life through honoring, raising awareness of and popularizing excellent designs.
This year City of Sapporo will hold "Sapporo International Design Competition 2000", which has started in 1991.
This year's theme is"Planning a City of Dreams:Designs for Sapporo." We would like to gather designs-not only around the world-in a wide range of fields which help us imagine new dreams for the international city of Sapporo. We are looking forward to receiving many entries.
