The 2000 Business Week/Architectural Record Awards (BW/AR) is an annual global awards program recognizing distinguished collaboration and result between client/architect building teams who use architectural design
solutions to achieve strategic goals. The BW/AR Awards was created in 1997 to show that "good design is good business."

Now in its fourth year, the BW/AR Award recognizes the very best examples of creative management practices coupled with architectural design. The BW/AR Awards showcase the work of architects and clients who, together, are
creating the most innovative and successful facilities in the world.

"Architecture is perhaps one of the least understood and most powerful business tools available," wrote Bruce Nussbaum, editorial page editor, Business Week, in the magazine's November 1, 1999 coverage of the awards.

Jury/Criteria
A jury of prominent architects and business leaders selects award recipients by evaluating the quality of architect/client collaboration and the extent to which a facility contributes to an organization's bottom
line. The jury considers how well the client and architect worked together to meet or exceed goals and the measurable impact the building project had on the client's objectives.

Entry Rules
Entrants submit a mission statement and business plan describing how the project fits into an organization's overall goals. Additionally, entrants provide a detailed description of both the process and results, including measurements of how the project's architectural design solution helped achieve those results.

Eligibility
Public and private sector projects completed anywhere in the world since January 1, 1997, are eligible to enter. Entries are welcome regardless of project or budget size, including both new construction and renovations/restorations. The jury will determine the number and level of awards depending on the quality of the submissions. Winning projects will be published in fall 2000 issues of both Business Week and Architectural
Record.
