As in the previous years, the Festival is an event dedicated to everyone
who is involved in the study, design, and communication of architecture. The aim of the
Festival is to encourage the development of meaningful works exploring the relationship
between architecture and new means of communication, with special regards to the digital
media. The International Festival for Architecture in Video represents one of the main shows dedicated to the documentation and communication of architecture in film, works in video and animation, to the presentation of designs and documentary film and technical information destined to the designer, critics, and students of architecture. The central theme of the 4th Festival are the major projects that have marked the development of architecture and the construction sector in Europe from its recent past to today, from Reconstruction (1950s) to Sustainability (1990s), from the uncontrolled expansion of the city to the growth of a more sensitive environment for living. The show as well as taking a look towards the future, presents, alongside its main theme, a selection of works that address the differing aspects of the innovation of communication in architecture and with this aim considers: · the development of digital technology as a new instrument for the communication of design; · the role of architecture in cinema and viceversa; · the content and standard of technical information in video made to promote new materials and components for the building industry and new production and construction methods. Offering a space to all the different ways of presenting architecture in video, the show intends to gather together by means of the screen evidence of the more significant ideas and projects from our recent past, to projects for the city of tomorrow, of ideas to come, and of architecture that exists only in the imagination of the designer. The 4th Festival, other than a meeting with some of the major protagonists of contemporary architecture, the projection of important film and debates with the authors of film and video, will present in video a selection of the designers, students, critics, and scholars works dedicated to the central theme of this year. As well as this there will be examples of digital systems for the making of special effects in cinema and set design for cinema. Administered by the Center of Documentation and Audiovisual Communication of PMPE Department, the Festival is entrusted to the executive organization of iMage.
