Communicating a company’s identity means making its reality coincide with how it is perceived by professionals, the market, other companies and the world in general. Fantoni’s identity, its DNA we might say, consists of several distinctive traits: nature and architecture, the on-site production of energy and new materials, the industrial culture and the design culture.

Why BLUE INDUSTRY?
When Gino Valle designed Fantoni headquarters, his starting point was the scenery. This is a landscape “with the bright sea on one side and the mountains on the other, resulting in frequent changes of climate and of the colour of the land and the sky”, as the architect wrote. The colour blue prevails in the buildings he devised for the large industrial complex, nestled on the flood plain leading to the foothills of the Giulian Alps. The Fantoni Research Centre is a place for professional exchange and study, founded in 1996 as a direct interface between Fantoni and the surrounding environment. It has the dual function of both absorbing and radiating knowledge and experience within the context of design and industry.

The central theme of the 6th international architecture festival BEYOND MEDIA, the role of communication technologies in architecture, involves Fantoni directly as a maker of office furniture and a company mindful of the changes generated by Information and Communications Technology. For several years the Fantoni Research Centre has been developing these and other concepts with an ambitious series of design seminars, exhibitions and workshops whose story is told in its BLUE INDUSTRY publication and in the theme islands making up the exhibition of the same name. The show is being hosted at the exhibition hall of Santa Verdiana, where we have highlighted Fantoni’s main guidelines and principles: a commitment to sustainability, materials design, architecture and ergonomics.
