R. Ottaviani, S. Petrollini, Il nodo Stazione Tiburtina. Una nuova centralità urbana, (progetto architettonico: ABDR architetti associati), ITALY 2002, 4'21''

The competition for the New Tiburtina Station is the opportunity to create a new urban centrality capable of spatially and physically re-connecting two blocks (Nomentano and Pietralata) which have historically been divided by the railway layout. The project stresses the value of the existing layouts and axiality of local contexts, entrusting them with the reconnection of the New Station to the physical reality of the two original contexts. The project for the Stazione Ponte is thought as a large suspended gallery meeting at the same time the function of international railway and that of a wide city Boulevard. Inside the big container we find floating volumes, suspended from a reticular roof, certainly consistent with the structural requirements, suggesting a wholly “hung up” lay-out capable of optimizing both the structural bays of the upper floors, and the problems caused by the vibration of the high speed trains. The walkway surface of the slab, freed from any vertical structure along the entire width, is characterized by a series of ambits determined by the presence of the suspended volumes.

The video was realized by Romolo Ottaviani (artist and architect member of Stalker) and Simona Petrollini (graphic-designer) who have co-operated with ABDR architetti associati, designers of this project.
Maria Laura Arlotti, Michele Beccu, Paolo Desideri, Filippo Raimondo (ABDR Associate Architects) have been carrying on their associate professional activity since 1982. The projects of the studio were on display at the XVI Triennial of Milan, at the III International Show of Architecture at the Venice Biennial, at the A.A.M./Coop. of Rome, by the Institute of Italian Culture in Wien, at the Faculty of Architecture of Köln, Aachen, Berlin, Toronto, Pescara and at the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania. The professional activity of the studio has been documented in the main magazines of this field.
