Michele Aquila, CAMZ, ITALIA 2002, 2'15''

Through the window of a bus, a car's rear-view mirror, our home's window or a polaroid, it is possible to glimpse a physical reality familiar to us. Connecting to a webcam, reality is amplified, distances rear up and real time becomes the only unit of measure. Camz allows panoramas of Tokyo, Berlin, New Orleans, New York and Montreal to link together creating a work analysis related to the mutating spatial perceptions following the heavy use of the web as a vehicle to project our view to places

Michele Aquila (b. 1975) is currently studying Architecture at the University of Florence. He believes that video technology is a convenient method for exploring tensions contained in spaces while simultaneously restoring amplified sensorial experiences of scenes witnessed through video. At the age of 14, instead of a scooter he asked for a videocamera Sony CCDF555E; he would assemble and record using a VCR SONY SLV353 and a walkman AIWA HS-PX310. After Commodore 64 and DOS he tried his hand on Apple and quickly understood that he was made for digital technology.
