Lorenzo Bellacci, ARCHITETTURERICOSTRUITE, ITALIA 2001, 13'20''

The work consists of a series of walk throughs in some historical buildings, digitally reconstructed: the Sala Medicea of Leone X, the Sala Medicea of Cosimo I, the Romanic Parish of Gropina at Loro Ciuffenna. It is born from the will to experiment the capacities that rendering and global illumination technologies have in representing and simulating architectural elements characterized and improved by the natural light. The objective is to provide an exhaustive representation of the morphology of the represented buildings and of the atmosphere that pervades them, through simulation of sun light diffusion and reflection. The work was carried out with attention to the definition of the building and morphological details, based on the surveys and photographic documentation acquired directly, and comparing the Virtual Models thus obtained with the Real Environments, verifying and assessing the biunique correspondence between reality and reconstruction. The animations are chosen from an interactive menu that allows an analytic selection of the represented elements.

Lorenzo Bellacci
(1967) graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of Florence with the thesis "Images of Synthesis and Representation of Architecture – a verification of the predictive and descriptive capacities of the calculus algorithms of Global Illumination". Since 1996 he has been working as an independent professional in the field of architectural visualization, in collaboration with various professional studios. He participated in several competitions with works that have often been mentioned, exhibited or published. Among these, the national competition for ideas for the requalification of piazza Gramsci and piazza Verdi in Piombino with the team of architects "Risacca Urbana" and he won 1st place.
