 Thomas Bisiani, Marco Degrassi, QB8, ITALIA 2001 3'27" QB8 investigates an aspect of the project "two scales hybridisation", devised for EUROPAN 6 competition by M. Degrassi and T. Bisiani with M. Adami, S. Antonello, G. Biasi, S. Gaiardo, C. Zaccaria and S. Zanardi for the Amsterdam-Noord site. Answering the request of a hard-urban solution the project sets a thick but not dense tissue in which one–family houses in a gothic-like urban layout are mixed with multi-functional buildings: housing for students or singles, open-space offices, residential buildings with commercial spaces at the ground floor, roof-garden attics. This multi-functional building is used to create a porous fabric. Nine different typologies produce an articulate volume and a complexity that reproduces the stratification and the richness of spaces typical of a soft-planned urbanization. Thomas Bisiani (1974) and Marco Degrassi (1974) graduated in architecture from IUAV in Venice. They took part in several national and international competitions (Palazzo della Moda, with M. Adami and S. Antonello, 1998, mentioned project), and participated in the exibition of the Biennale di Venezia 2000. They both teach in Italy and abroad. |
