Iara Lee (Caipirinha Productions), Monumental Minimalism, USA 2000, 1'50''

"Architecture is frozen music", this was Goethe’s thought. In the opinion of Caipirinha Productions it is mostly a mutual transformation. ‘Architecture’ is the project that answers this suggestion. In addition to being a series of three CDs, it is also an installation that attempts at synergistically merging cinema, music and contemporary architecture. The first installation was made at the Brooklyn Anchorage at New York, one of the great structures that fix the Brooklyn bridge onto solid ground. The concept of this work is a succession of images and videos that evolve and change following musical combinations. Later the project was invited to the MoMA for the show "The Un-Private House", where it is having a deserved success, the first time that live electronic music enters to the
Museum Of Contemporary Art.

Iara Lee is member of Caipirinha Productions, a multi-disciplinary collection of artists who aim to blend the languages of video, imagery, electronic music and contemporary architecture. The video by Iara Lee had an immediate success in New York at the time of the first installation at the Brooklyn Anchorage. She was personally invited to the MoMA as video-creator and on this project she recreated an installation similar to the first, with the participation of performing groups of electronic music who exhibited live during the viewing of the video.
