DAP STUDIO, Media building, genesi di un progetto, ITALIA 2001, 2'37''

This video presents the new work by DAP STUDIO for the Biblio/Mediateque of Castellanza and the reflections that the project has generated on the relationship sound/image-written word. The project investigates the possibility to make different communication-tools co-exist diffusedly and multi-directionally inside the building; fluxes and media overlap originating a new spatial complexity. Isolation becomes a perceptive fact and not an event of physical/distributive organization of space: this generates new behavioral models and a new way of conceiving architecture. The new media allows the public space to transfer into a private, almost intimate dimension, that the project intends to explore. Externally, the windows look like ‘monitors’ that dynamically project the fragments of this new complexity: words and images chase one another and change on the glass panels, filtering the image of the interior spaces. The building expresses the instability of a changing organism that the flow of information constantly re-defines.

DAP STUDIO was born in 1992 from the co-operation between Elena Sacco and Paolo Danelli, both graduated at the Politecnico of Milan. Since the beginning the focal points of their work have been the search of a boundless new way of living, the pursuit of a home nomadism, and the idea of project as generator of sensations. During the past few years the theoretical path of DAP STUDIO has evolved around a few basic key-points: form, as element in a becoming process, unstable from the point of view of the project; concern for matter and for the sensorial and perceptive qualities that characterize it; places, as episodes, fragments of a whole, frames that generate the motion-picture of the cities.
