Tapio Snellman, Christian Grou (neutral), Football Stadium Munich, UNITED KINGDOM 2001, 1'32''

Football Stadium Munich. Herzog & De Meuron
A winning competition entry in collaboration with Herzog & de Meuron Architects to create a 66,000 spectator stadium for the 2006 World Cup and a new home for two football clubs (Bayern M?nchen and TSV 1860). The video animation depicts the innovative design of the facade, which consists of air filled transparent ETFE cushions, which when lit from behind, transform the colour and appearance of the stadium. The 1,5 minute long animation also visualises the original concept of the design, showing how the flow of the people shapes the landscape on top a 11,000 cars carpark which leads to the entrances of the stadium.

Since forming neutral, Tapio Snellman and Christian Grou have been involved in various fields within the visual arts. Neutral's projects have included both commercial and artistic/conceptual work within the disciplines of video, animation, web design, sound editing and graphics as well as architectural design. Jaques Herzog & Pierre de Meuron were both born in Basel in 1950. In 1975 they received their diplomas in architecture from ETH in Zurich. They founded their own office, Herzog & de Meuron, in Basel in 1978. They have been professors at Cornell University and at Harvard University in the USA and at ETH in Zurich. Their projects have been presented in exhibits in Basel, London, Zurich, Bordeaux, Barcelona and at the Centre Pompidou in Paris and at the Venice Biennial. In 2001 they were awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize.
