Falk Kagelmacher, Beyond movement. A three-dimensional video sculpture, SWITZERLAND 2001, 58"

A movie clip is transformed into a three-dimensional video sculpture. The project investigates movement beyond the frames of a video clip. Through manipulation of a video-clip, new relations between movement, space and time are made. The video clip is the base for re-interpretations of the interrelated themes of movement. It tells a story of a journey through Zurich by night. The video-clip shows a linear sequence of actions along a timeline. The video-sculpture resembles a parallel layout of the timeline. The time-based linear layout of actions turns into a simultaneous layout. The timeline is transformed into a spatial arrangement.

Falk Kagelmacher was born in Isny, Germany in 1964. He studied Architecture at the University of Braunschweig in Germany where he received his diploma in 1997. In 1996 he completed a Master of Architecture (RIBA) from the Hong Kong University and in 2001 he received a Post Graduate Degree from the ETH Zurich in CAAD.
