studioDIM, Bergognone 53, il luogo del divenire, ITALIA 2002, 6'00''

In the area of Milan behind the station of porta Genova, among the “navigli”, there is currently an intense restoration activity of the industrial buildings concentrated in this area. It is here that the Multinational American Real Estate Agency Hines has identified a building complex on an overall surface of 25,000 square meters that needs improvement and will be destined to tertiary utilization. Following an invitation competition in which nine international studios participated, the winner was MCA Integrated Design (arch. Mario Cucinella, Bologna - Paris). Respectful of the disposition of the masses, the project envisions the realization of a new facade for the main block, composed of a double glass skin utilized as sun shield, the differentiation of the fixtures of the single buildings according to the sun orientation and exposure, the transformation of the court into an inner square covered by a glass tent that during the winter creates a micro-climate and the use of a specific color, that belongs to the gamut of ochre yellow, to characterize each building
.

studioDIM is engaged in the research, experimentation and application of new languages that communicate architecture through digital simulation. studioDIM's works have accompanied projects by Pierluigi Cerri, Aldo Cibic, Mario Cucinella, Vittorio Gregotti. Mario Cucinella, founder of Mario Cucinella Associati (MCA Integrated Design with offices in Bologna and Paris) is internationally recognised and has won many competitions and awards. Most recently the prestigious 1999 Forderüngs Prize for Architecture by the Akademie der Künste of Berlin. MCA has most recently completed a project for the new maratime station in Otranto and is in executive phase for an offices complex in via Bergonone 53 Milan.
