Annick Pancher, Dôme pulsations, FRANCE 2001, 8'

The external space of the architectural set is the so called Palais de Tokyo, composed by the Modern Art Museum of Paris and the Palais de Tokyo: nearly symmetrical buildings, around a walk on two levels, going to the Seine. The movie is a composition showing the contrasts of this place. Sometimes you feel emptiness, amplified by the crushing lines of the monumental style, and the garden plants which today absorb the yard space strangely take part in this feeling. Sometimes the place is animated by lights playing with matter and shapes, but also by voices and more or less quick movements of passers-by and skaters, who compose with sculptures, bas-reliefs, steps and, yesterday, with columns. Academic architecture then becomes lively.

Architect by first training, after a short professional experience in this field, Annick Pancher worked as CAD developer and researcher, getting some interest in artificial intelligence. Finally she recognized her deep interest in movies and began a research work about movies on architecture, in French television history. Her aim is to direct documentaries, especially on architecture.
