Martina Posfortunato (Università degli Studi di Firenze, Facoltà di Architettura), Walled City, ITALY 2001, 10'34''

This video, realized by Martina Posfortunato, is taken from the thesis presented at the Faculty of Architecture of Florence by Martina Posfortunato and Stefania Liberati. The video represents a virtual tour through environments designed and inspired by the Walled City described in the novel Aidoru by W. Gibson. Each virtual environment arises from the interpretation and re-elaboration of some descriptions in the book that have taken shape through three-dimensional modeling. "And then the thing before her: building or biomass or cliff face (...) and past this scribbled border a sky where colors crawled like gasoline on water. (...) She guessed that the rooftops of the Walled City were its dumping ground, but the things abandoned there were like objects out of a dream, bit-mapped fantasies discarded by their creators." (William Gibson, Idoru, Putnam's Sons, New York 1996).

Martina Posfortunato
(1973) graduated from the University in Florence in 2000 with a thesis on the design of virtual environments. She distinguished herself at the international competition Designing-craft Europe (1998) as a young designer; her project was chosen for the production of a prototype. Martina Posfortunato carries out her practice in the Valdarno area, collaborating with various architectural offices, and aims at directing her activity toward the creation of "virtual worlds" and the design of interiors.
