T. Rafanelli, S. Scortecci, S. Rafanelli, SPIN! Time morphosis, ITALY 2001, 4'41''

The project SPIN! was realized in the architectural design 4 class taught by Prof. Adolfo Natalini (Università degli Studi di Firenze, academic year 2000/2001). The seminar, directed by Enrico Nieri, had as object of study the properties of resistance and "destructability" of architectural spaces. This research led us to the definition of spaces designed and thought through the use of the digital video. In this case the video is not a simple graphic rendering but becomes a tool and a control procedure of the project. The objective is the utilization of the new digital tools to overcome the boundary established by the media and return to the concrete, never ending reality of mutability. The short film shows the possible development phases of a suburban aggregate in the outskirts of Sisak in Croatia. The evolution is bound to and determined by a base matrix defined by a series of artificial hills that change in time. The hills modify and are modified by the rise of the buildings in a symbiotic, artificially naturalized relationship.

Tommaso Rafanelli and Simone Scortecci are 5th year at the Faculty of Architecture in Florence. They participated in the international competition "Lowitt's Mill" in Prague, exhibited at SESV in Florence, and in the international competition Europan 6 at Sisak, Croatia. Sandro Rafanelli is enrolled in the 5th year of the Faculty of Computer Engineering in Florence. He realized numerous databases and applications in DOS and Windows environments; he is webmaster of the Internet site "Rafsoft" (http://utenti.tripod.it/Rafsoft) for the diffusion of self-produced programs in the net.
