Giovanni Vaccarini (ESA studio), La porta di Jesolo, ITALIA 2002, 3'10'' The idea of the project is an attempt to manage the "genetic" hypothesis of development through bands that get deformed, and bend, as if they felt and recorded the new geometries present in the area, induced by the new road-network infrastructure. A new texture made by the superimposition of layers, a new soil that bends and rises outlining a new orography in the horizontal landscape of the lagoon and a new topography that gives it its character. The construction of this new - park/city fabric - defines all the relational spaces, both public and private, configuring a green infrastructure that borders the residential areas and that, rising, becomes the green roof of the "commercial park". The idea-project and the idea-image is to consider both the open areas and volumes together as a continuum, whereas the outline of the land, the ground movements constitute a sort of green island, a commercial park. The commercial park is, in addition to an original environmental system, also an extremely effective and 'explosive' image that can make of it a real park on territorial scale, a meeting and leisure place. Giovanni Vaccarini, architect, attended a post-graduate specialization course in landscape architecture in Ontario, Canada. Presently, he is enrolled in a PhD program in architectural composition. Since 1995 he has been teaching and doing research at the Faculty of Architecture "G. D'Annunzio" in Pescara. As an architect, he works under the denomination of ESA studio, a laboratory for design experimentation and research. He participated in several national and international competitions of architecture, receiving awards and acknowledgements. He was invited by the DARC (Ministry of Culture) for a consultation and took part in the Venice Art Biennial (2001). |
