Ammar Eloueini, Atmospheres, USA 2001, 5'12"

Atmospheres, a computer animation of Mies's project for the IIT Library and Administration Building, envisions the way the building would have looked in the changing light over the course of a day.The digital construction is based on Mies's perspective drawing for this pivotal yet unbuilt project.

Ammar Eloueini teaches at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He graduated from Paris-Villemin in 1994 and was awarded a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University in 1996. He participated in several symposiums, including Mixing It Up with Mies at the Canadian Centre for Architecture. In 2001, he was the winner of the "Albums des Jeunes Architectes" award in France. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (1886) is one of the masters of 20th century architecture. He took part in some of the most significant avant-garde circles, was director of the Weissenhof Siedlung in Stuttgart and in 1931 was appointed Director of the Bauhaus. In 1937 he moved to the United States where he was head of the Architecture Department of the Armour Institute of Technology in Chicago (later renamed IIT) until 1958.
