 West 8, Zeppelin, THE NETHERLANDS 1996, 11'30'' Looking from the sky, the dramatic magnitude of Dutch suburban cities becomes visible. The abstract patterns of the parcelled pastures and residential areas alternate like exchangeable pieces in an endless puzzle. The video shows uncultivated green parcels where cows graze next to suburban patterns of terraced houses. Adriaan H. Geuze is director and head designer of West 8 landscape architects. He hold teaching positions at Delft Technical University, Department of Architecture and Harvard University, Graduate School of Design, Department of Landscape Architecture. Among the projects by West 8 are: Landscaping Schiphol Airport in The Netherlands; Borneo/Sporenburg in Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Schouwburgplein in Rotterdam, The Netherlands; Jubilee Gardens in London, Great Britain; Kröller Muller Sculpture Garden in The Netherlands. |
